published in 1989.  Kaffe describes this design best.   "Brushstrokes was one of Zoe's earliest successes: she found the idea in a wonderful costume book by Max Tilke entitled
Costume Patterns and Designs.
A medieval leather doublet with fabric revealed through slashes was the inspiration for her first peplum jacket.  The wide vertical bands allow gentle changes of tone which give such a quality to the design."  Knit from the vintage Rowan Botany, Fine Fleck Tweed, and Handknit DK Cotton, the sweater is a wonderful blend of Islamic blues, turquoise greens, with red, pink, brick, and gold slashes that make the overall design sing..   The sweater is knit using the intarsia technique and is suitable for intermediate knitters comfortable with this type of color work. The design features simple shaping, drop shoulder sleeves, a crew neck, and striped ribbed borders.  The pattern specifies a single size with a finished chest/bust measurement of 43 inches.  Given it's geometric nature you could size it up or down. Modeled on a man, we think brushstrokes would also be very nice as a woman's sweater.  A true classic..   Our kit contains all the vintage Rowan yarn you need to complete the project in the original colors.   The design calls for a tension of 21 stitches and 27 rows to 4 inches (10 cm) on US 7 (4 mm) needles using the yarns doubled.

As with all of our RareRowan kits, this pack has been carefully stored in a non-smoking home, and these vintage yarns and fabric will arrive to you in pristine condition.
