    Description

Oatey No. 5 Lead Free Paste Flux cleans and fluxes most commonly soldered metals including copper, brass, zinc, galvanized iron, lead and tin or copper-coated metals. Fluxing is a critical step in the soldering process. No. 5 Paste Flux provides superior wetting properties for better solder flow and can be used with most soft solders. No. 5 Paste Flux complies with CA & VT lead content regulations.
For clean sweat copper fittings, no pre-cleaning is necessary. Apply flux to tube and fittings. Heat and apply solid wire solder. For other applications, clean excessive dirt and corrosion. Apply flux, heat and solder. The term "sweat" is interchangeable with the term "soldering" and is used specifically with soldering copper tubing.
    Paste Flux:
Paste fluxes require only a small amount applied to the whole joint. When flux is warm, the salts may come to the top or bottom of the container and need to be re-mixed prior to use. This does not affect the quality of the flux. This product is corrosive and can be irritating. To prevent corrosion, wash off excess flux after solder.
