Durgin Company of Concord, New Hampshire, first manufactured the Mary Baker Eddy Souvenir Spoons in 1898. They are 5⅞ inches long and made of sterling silver. The design features a beautiful rendering of Eddy’s Pleasant View, New Hampshire home in the bowl of the spoon, her signature on the front of the handle, her likeness and a cross and crown at the end of the handle, and a special motto written by Eddy expressly for the back of the handle: “Not matter but Mind satisfieth.” The spoons were made into the 1950s and 60s. There is no identifying mark to distinguish between original issues during Eddy’s lifetime and later productions. This rare set of nine souvenir spoons is in beautiful condition.
