Brandon Mably joined the Kaffe Fassett Studio in 1991 and quickly developed an international reputation for graphic, playful designs brimming with color. "Scales" was first published in Rowan Knitting Magazine 38 in the Fall of 2005. Classic Mably, this sweater combines a contemporary geometric design with interposed cool and warm colors to create a wonderful multi-season cardigan. Brandon blends some of the deepest shades of the tweed with grey, soft pink, terracotta, sage green, and light blue to make the pattern dance with color.  Subtle enough to be wearable without the pattern wearing you.. Knit in Rowan Yorkshire Tweed 4 ply, the sweater is knit from a chart using the intarsia techniques and features set in sleeves, a V neck, shaped sides and simple solid borders. The design is rated for experienced knitters and is suitable for anyone who is familiar with intarsia knitting. The pattern can be made in any of five sizes -- from x small to fit a 32 inch bust to x large to fit up to a 40 inch bust.  Our kit contains all the yarn you require to complete the sweater in Brandon's original colors.  Modeled on a woman we think this would make a great man's vest or pullover if you altered the shape.  Happy to help you create a chart for that.  The patterns calls for a tension of 28 stitches and 40 rows to 4 inches (10 cm) on US 2/3 (3 mm) needles.

Kit Contents:  The kit contains a copy of the pattern plus all the yarn you require to finish the cardigan in any of the five sizes:  Rowan Yorkshire Tweed 4 ply in Feral 284, Knight 281, Sheer 267, Glory 273, Bristle 278, Shrew 265, Stainless 270, Enchant 268, Blessed 269, and Highlander 266.  In total 30 balls.
As with all of our RareRowan kits, this pack has been carefully stored in a non-smoking home, and these vintage yarns and fabric will arrive to you in pristine condition.
