    Description

    The Abingdon Pottery Beta Vase shape was made in 3 sizes - 10 inches, 8 inches, & 6 inches ca 1938-41.  The #106 Beta was the middle 8-inch size & made in 1938-40 in various glaze colors.  This #106 has a rich burgundy/maroon glaze that Abingdon called Dubonnet.
    This vase is about 8 inches tall & 5-1/2 inches wide at the widest point at the outside of the handles.  The top rim is almost 4-1/2 inches in diameter & the bottom rim is about 3-3/4 inches in diameter.  The vase is unmarked, but may have originally had an Abingdon sticker.  The impressed shape number 106 is on the bottom.
    It is a sturdy piece, suitable for holding a floral arrangement, & in excellent vintage condition - no chips or hairlines or crazing.
