The Ariel Atom's claim to fame is its ability to offer drivers the purest driving experience available off the showroom floor. With no power steering, no power brakes, no power anything, the Atom allows drivers to test their skills without the typical electronic nannies standing in their way. The Atom 3S took the already fantastic recipe that Ariel had concocted and increased the power even further with the aid of forced induction. It's a track car both in performance and styling, with an exoskeleton supporting minimal "body pannels" crafted out of carbon fiber and ultra-lightweight plastics, contributing to a weight of just 1,350 pounds; however, this track car is road legal. Under a looming carbon fiber rear wing and carbon fiber intake (and not much else) lies a turbocharged 2.4-liter Honda K24 engine borrowed from the Civic Si producing an impressive 365 horsepower.
This 2016 Ariel Atom 3S is an exceptionally well-optioned piece of kit. While the base 3S is an imposing force both in terms of performance and styling, this example benefits from the addition of a factory-optioned close-ratio 6-speed transmission, a carbon fiber rear wing, carbon fiber wheel covers, carbon fiber air intake hood and front cover, and a limited-slip differential. Aftermarket equipment includes a Garmin satellite navigation with a programable full-time rear-facing camera, Corbeau racing seats, and Sabelt 5-point racing harnesses. The factory instrument cluster is a Race Technology LTD. DASH2 display, which displays 17,415 miles. It also includes a digital tach, speedo, shift lights, and information display for oil pressure, water temperature, etc. This Atom 3S has been meticulously maintained and performs flawlessly. The fully adjustable suspension has been set up with both track performance and on-road drivability in mind, creating a perfect balance of raw handling and usability. Apart from high-performance motorcycles, nothing on the road offers the same pure driving experience and raw speed as the Ariel Atom 3S.
