Description

2011 Harley-Davidson XL883N motorcycle for sale.
Background Information:
Purchased the bike salvaged in Independence Missouri in February 2020.  The oil tank was leaking, battery was bad, tires were original but overall in OK shape. 5,000 original miles on the odometer.  Seller couldn't find the title and was moving out of state.  Not stolen, though - good, I'll take it and make it my first Harley.
Rode it into Rawhide HD dealer in Olathe, Kansas.
Had it reconditioned with a new oil tank, oil hoses, and battery with OEM parts. (

) Everything else checked out fine.
Rebuilt the title with special help from KS Highway Patrol and Quiet Title legal process.
Title has no lien and motorcycle is tagged in State of Kansas
.  Road legal and garaged since I purchased.

The Issue and Repair Journey:
Bike ran like a top for ~3000 miles.
Rode it to work mostly (15 miles each way).
In July 2021, the Service Engine Soon light came on and it wasn't running well. Took it back to Rawhide HD.  Dealer ran diagnostics and suggested two (2) sensor replacements:
1) MAP sensor with OEM part
2) Throttle Position sensor with OEM part
Ordered both (

) had to wait due to parts shortage, but bike still wasn't back to 100% where it was.
ECM tested OK - no issue
, it is rideable but service engine light stays on.  Rawhide HD suggested to have the full wire harness replaced for ~

in labor, parts, & tax. I declined and simply paid for their diagnostics and their work on installing the sensors and a fresh oil change. (

Before the ride home to the garage, the Harley Technician talked to me and said "
just try replacing the small portion of the engine wiring harness
". (later identified as part #70167-08?) Rawhide HD service then gave me a paper for

in trade + equity towards a brand new bike and happily walked me to the Sales floor - Jake was/is great huge respect for Rawhide HD.   I'm not in the market for a new bike at this stage of life so not going to pursue that at this time.  (All kids are in elementary school now)
Summary:
As-is HD Motorcycle, KS Title (w/ no lien), HD Repair Quote, and Trade Offer mentioned above are in my garage and with me.  Bike will run, but
service engine soon light
is still
on
. It runs and rides OK for the first 5 miles.  I know it will run great again someday when the full repair is completed.
Ideal purchase for very short (and loud) rides, a DIYer, friend of bike mechanic, and/or new HD bike buyer who wants something loud & fast that will run to the dealership with a title to use as a trade towards a new bike.
