DESCRIPTION:
IF YOU BUY A BIKE BY THE NUMBERS, YOU MIGHT AS WELL BUY NUMBER ONE. KAWASAKI GPz: NUMBER ONE CHOICE IN AMERICAN AMATEUR ROADRACING.
This is the standard. This is the machine to which every other performance bike is compared.
If art is knowing what to leave out, this bike is a masterpiece. Anything that didn't make a contribution to horsepower or handling stayed on the drawing board. The end result is a motorcycle that's as close to pure racing machinery as a production bike can get. More GPz's show up on starting grids around the country than almost all other makes combined.
THE INGREDIENTS
GPz gets there by letting its rider ride, not work. Think, not react. Concentrate, not worry.
Starting at the front, two new features are easy to spot. Air-adjustable, anti-dive forks and an all new 18-inch, three-spoke cast-alloy wheel. The smaller front wheel provides less frontal area and less rotating mass.
Just a little higher is the most obvious and dazzling of all the new GPz pieces. A fully-integrated frame-mount fairing, that provides
reduced steering head weight and lowers wind effect.Inside the fairing is all-new GPz instrumentation. The speedometer and tachometer with voltmeter are isolated above the triple clamp for easy reading at speed. Downstream, in a special tank nacelle, are LCD readouts for oil level, fuel, battery, and side-stand.
And the story is just getting good. We're at the swing arm now. And if you guessed it's all new, too, you're right. Box-section aluminum that's wide in front to allow bigger tire selection. In back, new eccentric-cam chain adjusters that until this year only showed up on mega-buck racing exotica. Topping the swing arm is race-
designed rising-rate Uni-Trak® suspension featuring 4-way adjustable damping and bottom-mounted progressive linkage that works with tensive forces, not compressive, for lighter weight and lower C.G. That's a serious rear end, folks.
Feeding the GPz cylinders are oval-bore carburetors on the 750,
and Digital Fuel Injection on the 1100. The special pistons work with stronger connecting rods for sustained high speed operation. The standard oil cooler's capacity is up 33%.
Black is the only race-engine color, so black it is. Crinkle-finish and black chrome with black high-volume pipes.
THE EXPERIENCE
Nothing else even comes close. All the words in the world won't compare to one early morning ride.
