What made the men of
Phi KappaTheta run out on the
social event of the season?
The KZ4OOs.
Some say it was the devil’s work.
Others say it was a sorority pay-off.
All anybody knew for sure was that when
John Barkworth and George “The Gorge”
Pinard skipped on the annual toga party, they
took over half the buffet and certain valuable
manuscripts with them. And they left on the
KZ400 and KZ400 LTD.
They’re two bikes out for a good time,
whether it’s highway riding or campus crusin!
You can bet your toga on that. The six-speed
gearbox gets you a lot of go from a strong
398cc 4-stroke single overhead cam engine.
Stop at a light and the automatic neutral-
finder finds neutral on the first try. And the
steering lock is built right into the ignition
switch. So wise guys on Greek Row don’t ride
off on your good time motorcycle.
The Gorge liked to get down to basics.
Food and your basic KZ400. Barkworth was
more the BMOC type (Big Man On Campus).
So the KZ400 LTD was more his type.
The KZ400 LTD. Billy goat bars (almost),
fat rear tire, aluminum alloy wheels with a disc
up front. Big step seat and a sinister black paint
job with pinstriping. Oh,et tu, Brute?
